Llanwern, the Seat of Rev'd Sir C. Salusbury, Bart

Antique pencil drawing on paper of Llanwern Park near Newport, Wales, from a collection of drawings by Charles Greenwood and Frederick Peake produced between 1840-1850. This one inscribed 'Llanwern, the Seat of Rev'd Sir C. Salusbury, Bart' and signed CIG (Charles Greenwood). A view of the house set in the landscape with fields and trees in the foreground. Pencil and house heightened with beige watercolour. Good condition (see images). Size 25.5 x 18.5cm.    

Llanwern Park was home to Lord Rhondda of Llanwern. Demolished in the 1950's, the parkland and gardens still survive and an ice house remains in the grounds.
